Enrique and Humberto – two brothers who are also the owners – were our… read more hosts and guides. They were fantastic – fun, informative, attentive, and thrilled to share their jungle and the falls with us. They pointed out monkeys, frogs, insects, tracks, and plants – among other things – and were happy to answer our questions. Their pride in and love for the area really showed throughout the entire day.

The trail was well-maintained, but it was not necessarily easy. There was a fair amount of elevation change – both up and down – and in some cases, the terrain was uneven and slippery. An average fitness level should be a prerequisite. Some effort was involved, but it was well worth it.

The trip included lunch, and it was really good – way beyond expectations! We enjoyed every morsel – the fried chicken, beans, rice, fresh fruit, and yucca. Yum!

This trip is not to be missed!

The guides… read more helped us spotting wildlife and educated us about the lush vegetation. The waterfalls were spectacular and we could go swimming in the pools underneath them. At the end of the tour, we were treated to a delicious home made lunch with the freshest produce from local farms. Everything from the tour, the swim in the waterfalls and the meal were in total privacy without other tourists. An absolutely unique and wonderful experience. To be repeated and highly recommend.

The lunch afterwards cooked by Humberto’s wife was a huge hit with all of us – we definitely worked up an appetite! This was a great start to our week in Costa Rica and we’re thankful for the up close swims we could take at the base of beautiful falls!

  Santa Lucia Falls family hiking tour – We visited the Santa Lucia Falls last week with 4 adults and 5 kids, ages 14, 12, 11, and two 9 year olds. We had a blast!!!! Enrique and Umberto… read more were fantastic guides and they spotted howler monkeys and some interesting insects as well as a (sleeping) poisonous snake. The hike was challenging due to the vertical climb and some narrow trails, so be ready to sweat and exercise! We loved getting to swim in a few water holes as our reward. Bring water shoes to change into for the waterfalls, but wear your hiking shoes and socks during the hike. Lunch afterward was delicious and felt like we were visiting family! All in all, this was our favorite excursion in Uvita- highly recommend!!

  Night Tour with Humberto – We booked a last minute night tour with Humberto and it’s the best decision we made in Costa Rica. Humberto has an amazing eye to spot even the smallest creatures… read more at night. He taught us so much with such passion for nature- I cannot recommend enough. If I ever have the opportunity to come back to Costa Rica, another tour with Humberto would be first on my list.

Was so nice to learn about their property and lifestyle. And the plants and fruits on their land. We even were able to try a special fruit called guanabana. The brothers were very proud of their land and enjoy having a small size group so the experience is more intimate. The waterfalls were all so beautiful and tall. I liked the last one the best! Our sons enjoyed jumping off the cliff at the end of our hike. And to top it off, Humberto’s wife made us an absolutely delicious meal! Thank you so much!

  Perfect day in Costa Rica – We had an amazing time on the hike with Enrique. The property is gorgeous, you truly feel isolated from society and like you’re trekking through the depths of the rainforest… read more while on the hike. These were some of the prettiest waterfalls I’ve seen anywhere in my travels and were a very welcome break from the heat. Definitely wear hiking shoes/boots, use a walking stick (which they have several you can borrow at the start of the hike) and bring a bathing suit as you’ll work up quite the sweat getting to all the waterfalls. Our guide Enrique was so nice, he was constantly looking out for our safety and making sure we made it through the tricky portions of the trail unscathed. He was very knowledgeable about the local plant and animal life and we never felt rushed the entire time. And then to top it off we were treated to a delicious lunch upon our completion of the hike, one of the best meals we had during our entire trip. 10 out of 10 would recommend this experience and my hope is we can do it again one day. Thank you Enrique for the great memories you left us with!

  Best activity on 10 day trip to Costa Rica – Without any doubt the best thing we did on a 10 day trip to Costa Rica. Enrique and Umberto were superb guides–engaging, friendly, and knowledgeable–and took good… read more care of my family, including my sons ages 9 and 11. Three things stand out from the tour. First, the amount and variety of wildlife was outstanding; we saw howler and spider monkeys, many, many birds including toucans, four varieties of frogs (all with vivid colors), a blue Morpho butterfly, an eyelash viper, etc. The wildlife was better than in Corcovado national park where we went later in the trip. Second, the three waterfalls were beautiful and distinct; we enjoyed the swimming. Finally, the lunch, which included many ingredients grown or picked locally, was a true treat, as was the conversation. Highly, highly recommended.
